Gazing into Spain
Finally, our first visit to Spain. Why do these things take so long? Never mind + never again. Spain stole our hearts. Madrid, Granada, Bilbao and San Sebastian are bursting with life, art, beautiful people and textures. The Iberian aesthetic of curation, color, shape and light was on full display. We will definitely be back.
Note: There are two sets of photos below. Enjoy.
Sincere thanks to all our good friends who trimmed our sails during planning the trip advising 'go deeper + fewer, not further'. Excellent advice.
It allowed us to get to know the eloquent Veronika in Granada who unpacked the secrets and sordid affairs of the Alhambra. In St. Sebastian, Martin who worked down the street from our apt at Antonio's and crafted amazing tortilla. And Charles, who revealed the hidden world of Neanderthal cave art deep inside UNESCO protected caverns in the Pyrenees. Just us in pitch dark caves with a small torch seeing art created 22k years ago. Everywhere we went in Spain we were greeted with warm smiles, laughter and a deep love and appreciation for their homeland. Gracias, Espana!
